Sioux Falls School District schedules March 12 kickoff for kindergarten and junior‑kindergarten registration

The district announced a kindergarten and junior‑kindergarten registration kickoff for March 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. at elementary buildings. Families with children who will be 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2026, are eligible to attend; the event is intended to introduce families to kindergarten classrooms, teachers and registration steps.

Speaker identified as Miss McDaniel said the district will host the kickoff at three locations—JFK (Southwest), Robert Frost (Central) and Terry Redlin Elementary (Northeast)—and noted online registration is already open. She asked families to bring a child’s birth certificate, immunization records and two forms of address verification to complete registration.

The district offered a junior‑kindergarten option for families uncertain about readiness; three junior‑kindergarten sites will be available. Staff encouraged families to visit their home attendance center to determine the best fit and to take advantage of the March 12 event.
