Jason Fisher, director of learning, told the board the district will host kindergarten roundup across its 10 elementary schools March 2–6 and that the state has extended checkpoint testing windows after inclement weather.
"It is mandated that all schools in grades 3 through 8 administer the checkpoints," Fisher said, describing the formative assessments used to guide instruction. He said the district will conclude the checkpoint window this week and then enter the third checkpoint window that concludes April 10 to align with the iLearn summative testing schedule.
Fisher also reminded the board that the district will administer the SAT School Day for 11th graders on March 4, outlined iRead testing at the elementary level and previewed ELA adoption training for K–5 staff later in the spring. He described a new Ilearn parent portal that allows parents to review assessment results in real time and said most schools will still send checkpoint information home with students rather than by mail.
Separately, Dr. Walter Lambert, director of student services, said the district has sent a second McKinney-Vento housing questionnaire (a federally and state-required step) to identify students who may need transportation or food-service supports; the district intends to open the nonresident transfer window in early April.
The board noted several upcoming community events, including a Castle show-choir preview night and a Dolly Parton Imagination Library fundraiser.
