Board approves transportation, generator and change-order contracts totaling over $1.6 million

The Clarkston Community School District Board approved a package of capital contracts and construction change orders that together represent more than $1.6 million in current approvals.

The Board approved Clarkson Transportation Improvements Project contracts totaling $1,338,000 with a 7.5% contingency of $100,350 for a grand total of $1,438,352.40. Board member Hyer noted this completes the transportation bidding from earlier work and finishes the project phase under the bond program.

Administrators also approved contracts for the Andersonville Elementary generator project as presented; board discussion noted the generator was repurposed from the junior high. The board then approved a $117,949 construction change order for Bumbler Mechanical related to Clarkson High School mechanical work and a $61,005 change order for Johnson and Sons Excavating for Clarkson Junior High excavating.

Board materials provided a breakdown of contingency and contract totals during the vote. Board members said they continue to monitor the district’s ongoing bond construction projects and to schedule tours for the full board to inspect junior high progress, track the HVAC penthouse work at the high school and review contingency use. Motions were moved, supported and carried for each item.
