Jimmy Hoffman, principal of Lakeland High School, told the Lakeland District Board of Trustees that the high school is "off to a great start" this year and described current academic and cultural highs at the campus. Hoffman said initial data compilation from state ISAT testing suggests Lakeland High ranks at or near the top in math among comparable Idaho public high schools. He introduced a series of student recognitions and invited administrators to briefly describe each honoree.
Assistant principal Frank and other staff presented students individually. Frank described freshman Jonathan Centano as a consistently positive presence in hallways; he praised junior Bash Hanford for frequent acts of kindness toward peers and classmates; and he described Cash Lunn as an exceptionally gritty athlete who recently accepted a football position at Eastern Oregon University. Additional students recognized by staff included Katie Nava, Kylie Lent, Colt Williams, Andy Boyer, Ryan Stipich and Noah Bodak for a mix of academic achievement, leadership and technical or athletic skills.
Board members and Superintendent Taylor thanked families and staff for supporting students. No formal board action was required for the recognitions; school leaders asked trustees to join them in applauding the students and to note the positive academic trends on the campus. The meeting moved to other agenda items after the presentations.
