Trustees approved a set of student travel requests after brief discussion about the transparency of the new board agenda/request form and how event expenses would be covered. The board asked the district to add cost fields and clearer school identification to the form so trustees can readily see what, if any, district funds are required.
On the FFA state convention request, a trustee asked explicitly "what is the cost of the event, and how are expenses being covered?" and staff responded that CTE and the FFA account would cover the trip expenses. The SkillsUSA competition was confirmed as a state-level event in Boise with lodging at the La Quinta Town Square; trustees asked staff to include destination and dates on future forms. The jazz-band request included a note that approval was contingent on sufficient fundraising for the second trip. All three motions were moved and approved by voice vote.
Board members also asked for chaperone lists and travel dates to be added to future submissions and requested clearer, cohesive wording on the new form so reviewers can compare requests more easily. No trustee opposed the motions.
