The Maryland House of Delegates read resolutions on Feb. 6, 2026, recognizing Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for their service to communities and urging continued advocacy.
Delegate N. Scott Phillips, speaking for members gathered for 'Blue and White Night,' described the annual event as "an annual event where members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated and our sorority sisters in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated come together to advocate for budget priorities as well as legislation that aligns with our organizations' shared mission of serving the people." The Clerk then read the formal language of the resolutions, which direct presentation on Feb. 22, 2026.
The resolutions salute founders and notable members and commend the organizations' work on scholarship, service and leadership. The House made the readings on the consent calendar and recorded the introductions for further presentation; no committee action was required for the resolutions themselves.
Members in the gallery associated with the organizations were acknowledged on the floor. The session also included other ceremonial recognitions and constituent acknowledgements that evening.
