The City of Laredo planning commission on Monday approved a series of master‑plan revisions and plats covering commercial and residential projects across the city.
Key approvals included a revision to the Embarcadero Southeast Quadrant Master Plan (Phase 6 lot count updated) and several preliminary plats and replats from applicants including Camacho Hernandez and Associates, JHN Ranches, Buena Vista Ranch Land Development, D and J Alexander Investments and others. Commissioners approved items mostly “subject to staff comments” and, in one case, approved a file while removing specific traffic comments following an explanation from the applicant about existing roadway intersections and block length measurements.
Among procedural points, the commission discussed a requested waiver for a block‑length requirement for a JHN Ranches subdivision (one block measured about 262 feet); staff noted the ordinance requires requests for variances be submitted with the application in writing. After clarification about how block length is measured, staff and the applicant agreed the block will meet the 300‑foot measurement when taken to the right‑of‑way intersections, and the commission approved the item subject to staff comments.
Motions to approve the other preliminary and final plats carried by voice vote. The final business on the agenda included formal approvals of multiple final plats; the commission then adjourned.
