House Education Committee posts subcommittees and schedules first hearings, adjourns

The Virginia House Education Committee used its Feb. 9 organizational meeting to announce subcommittee chairs, membership and schedules and to close with a motion to adjourn.

The K–12 subcommittee, chaired by Delegate Shelley Simons, will meet at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday mornings (with an occasional 4 p.m. meeting if needed) and will include Delegates Askew, Cousins, Destiny Lavere Bowling, Doherty, Anderson, Cherry, Teta and Kent. The Higher Education subcommittee will be chaired by Delegate Brianna Sewell and meet immediately after the full committee on Mondays; members listed included Delegates Clark, Laufer, Lavere Bowling, McQuinn, Doherty, Garrett, Scott and Teta. The Early Childhood and Innovation subcommittee, chaired by Delegate Delia Kelly Converse Fowler, will meet Wednesdays immediately after the full committee and include Delegates Askew, Cousins, Sewell, Anderson, Guzman, Reeser, Kent, Zehr and Whittle.

Delegate Shelley Simons moved to adjourn the meeting; the motion was seconded (not named in the transcript) and the chair called for voice approval. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
