Lebanon Transit wins county pledge for $280,703 local match toward $48 million maintenance facility

Lebanon County commissioners approved a letter of commitment to cover $280,703 in local matching funds, spread over three years, to help Lebanon Transit bid a new maintenance, administration and vehicle-storage facility.

Angie Luciani, executive director of Lebanon Transit, and consultant Toby Flower said the total project construction estimate is $48,000,000 and that anticipated funding sources include $24.6 million in federal funds and $22.6 million in state funds, with the remainder covered by local match. Luciani said Lebanon Transit has already received a $116,000 award from the local share account and $1,300 from the city of Lebanon; the requested commitment would allow Transit to proceed to bid in March.

Commissioners asked whether selling the Schneider Drive property would be used to offset local match; Luciani said that is a possibility but noted federal and state interests could require repayment if the property is sold. Commissioners approved the commitment by voice vote and encouraged staff to proceed with procurement and bidding on the March timeline.

Next steps: Transit to proceed with bidding in March, finalize matching-fund schedule across county budget years, and report back to commissioners on procurement and any proceeds from potential property disposition.
