At the Feb. 6 delegation meeting, Anne Arundel County Public Schools and the nonprofit Shepherd Pratt presented Local Budget Initiative requests for 2026.
Grace Wilson, director of legislation and policy for AACPS, requested $1,000,000 to complete a field house at Chesapeake High School, noting prior state funding of $1,350,000 for the project. She also presented a $25,000 request to complete a marquee at Rundle Middle School, reporting $11,000 raised locally and prior state support of $14,500.
Damien Lang, director of government relations at Shepherd Pratt, described a residential rehabilitation program at 1419 Madison Park Drive that serves adults with mental health needs and co-occurring substance use disorders. Lang asked the delegation for $300,000 to replace the facility’s HVAC system and install a code-compliant fire alarm, describing the upgrades as necessary for safety and habitability.
Delegates thanked presenters and noted the projects will remain in the delegation's queue for consideration. The chair reminded delegates that materials had been circulated in advance and asked staff to make presentations available to members.
