Los Angeles City Council commends Affirmative Action Association for Women on 25th anniversary

The Los Angeles City Council on March 3 adopted a resolution commending the Los Angeles Affirmative Action Association for Women on its 25th anniversary and thanked the group for its work advancing equal employment and career-advancement training for city employees.

AAAW leaders outlined the organization’s programs, including a quarterly newsletter, a scholarship program for members and their families, and training workshops on job-advancement skills. AAAW’s president said the group has focused on preparing members for promotion and supporting policies that affect women and minorities in city government.

Council members praised the association’s long-standing advocacy. The resolution was presented in the chamber and accepted by AAAW representatives; the council approved the item without objection.
