Chaffetz at Utah Eagle Forum: same-day in-person voting with voter ID, and term limits

At the Utah Eagle Forum event, Jason Chaffetz made a direct appeal for election changes in Utah, arguing current methods invite fraud and that uniform in-person voting would improve integrity.

Chaffetz said "Everybody should have to vote same time, same place, in person, with a voter ID," adding that in-person precinct voting with ID is "not rocket science." He criticized absentee and signature-based processes as vulnerable to fraud and said he distrusted the state's current system, urging attendees to press state lawmakers to change it.

He described party-switching and what he said were lax signature requirements on one party's process as elements that can "affect an election," saying, "Why do we continue to give these people so much power?" He framed the reforms as both practical and foundational to preserving voter integrity in Utah.

Chaffetz also advocated for term limits, saying public officials remain too long in office and should be rotated out: "There should be term limits in this state. Get in, serve, and get your **** out of there, okay?" He specified that term limits should apply to the governor, senators and other positions, and that officials could later run for different offices if voters chose.
