The Berks County Board of Commissioners voted to accept the day’s agenda and reviewed a package of fiscal and personnel items submitted for approval.
Commissioners were presented with a resolution authorizing 2024 budget transfers totaling $1,247,716 and appropriations of $474,615 as listed on a submission dated Oct. 24, 2024. The board also heard two human resources actions: the promotion of Stephen Gorman from Assistant District Attorney 3 to Assistant District Attorney 4, and the promotion of Tyler Novak from Certified Legal Intern to Assistant Public Defender 1.
Officials reviewed a contract agenda dated Oct. 28, 2024, that included nine contract actions—two with CareerLink; one with Children and Youth Services; four joint agreements among Children & Youth Services and Juvenile Probation; one with the Department of Emergency Services; and one with Facilities and Operations. The board was also presented motions to authorize electronic payments for the week ending Nov. 1, 2024, and employee payroll disbursements dated Nov. 4, 2024.
Treasurer Mitch Darkcourt reported an opening balance of $443,493,681.21, a balance to clear of $3,254,435.38, and an available balance of $240,239,245.83. Controller Joe Ruttero reported total cash disbursements of $21,503,533.04 for the week ending Oct. 31, 2024.
A motion to accept the agenda was made, seconded and carried after commissioners voiced ‘aye’; no opposition was recorded. The meeting proceeded with the items presented on the agenda for further action or placement on future consent lists.
The board adjourned after closing routine business.
