The Union County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday adopted three ordinances and a slate of resolutions during its year-end meeting, including an ordinance setting county salaries for 2026.
Clerk of the board read Ordinance No. 861-2025, amending safety-code provisions covering bicycles, scooters and recreational vehicles; Ordinance No. 862-2025, a series of technical edits to the administrative code and fee schedules; and Ordinance No. 863-2025, which sets compensation for commissioners, the county manager, county council and department heads for 2026. After brief openings for public comment (no speakers on Ordinance 861), commissioners moved each measure to final reading and approved them by roll call. The clerk recorded eight votes in the affirmative for each ordinance.
The clerk also called the roll to adopt a group of resolutions on the evening’s agenda; the board approved the resolutions by an eight‑vote roll call. During public comment, speakers asked for more disclosure about specific resolution line items (see separate item on public comment). County staff provided a brief budget-status reply during public comment, reporting a roughly $13 million capital balance and a 2% increase for constitutional officers.
The measures passed are technical and procedural in nature or part of the annual budget and compensation process. The board did not amend the salary ordinance on the floor; the clerk recorded the final tallies immediately after each vote.
