Board accepts courthouse cleaner resignation, directs advertising for replacement; public comments and county updates delivered

The board accepted a resignation from a courthouse cleaning employee and authorized advertising the vacancy.

A motion (moved by the speaker who earlier identified as Dalton) to accept the employee's resignation effective Feb. 26 was seconded; the board took a voice vote on the motion and proceeded to advertise the position using the previously advertised description, with two runs requested. A commissioner suggested running the same job description and placing the advertisement in both usual outlets.

During public comment and departmental updates, Speaker 10 (Jason) reported the medical budget at 65% and the board-of-prisoners budget at 38% and said a fingerprint machine awarded to the county by DCI should arrive sometime this summer. Commenters and commissioners also discussed the value of hand-count training and clarity about how a one-cent special-purpose sales tax is accounted for in county budgets.
