ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. — The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors on March 12 approved a resolution updating the bylaws of Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare, the regional community services board that serves the Roanoke Valley.
Madeline Hanlon, assistant to the county administrator, told the board that the proposed revisions clarify the meaning of the term "operating community services board," remove specific appointment mechanics from the bylaws and place them in a separate appointment policy, and strengthen attendance standards for board members. She said the updated bylaws were reviewed and accepted by Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare's board of directors in December 2023.
A supervisor moved to approve the resolution and it was seconded; the clerk then called the roll. The vote recorded affirmative responses from the supervisors present and the resolution carried.
Hanlon said Roanoke County's approval was required because the county is one of the local political subdivisions served by Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare and local governing bodies must approve bylaws revisions. The changes are administrative in nature, Hanlon said, and staff recommended adoption.
The board took no additional amendment during the meeting and the resolution was entered as approved.
