The Vermont Senate unanimously confirmed Kai Sampson as commissioner of the Department of Financial Regulation on Feb. 6. The clerk announced that 27 senators voted yes and none voted no.
A senator delivering the confirmation report on the floor recounted Sampson's experience in state government and the private sector, including prior roles in the auditor's office, the Department of Financial Regulation (formerly BISHCA), and at National Life. The reporter noted Sampson's accounting background and public service credentials, including a bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont and a master's in public service. "I recommend very highly that he be considered for confirmation of his appointment to the role that he's in now," the senator said.
The Senate took a roll-call vote and confirmed Sampson's appointment. The clerk announced the confirmation and the appointment will be recorded in the Senate journal.
