The Caldwell County Health Board voted to approve a midyear budget revision for the WIC program and established an ad hoc committee to work on the 2026–27 budget.
Finance presenter Bridal Ravey told the board that at the month ending December, 50% of the fiscal year had elapsed; the health department’s expenditures were at about 37% and department-collected revenue at about 27% of expected. Ravey noted one revision to the packet: the WIC department’s caseload rose to 100% of expected and that resulted in a recommended budget increase of $3,736 to cover the caseload change.
The board moved to approve the WIC budget revision; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote (ayes). No roll-call votes or vote tallies by member name were recorded in the transcript.
Later in the meeting, the chair moved to appoint an ad hoc budget committee to prepare work on the 2026–27 budget and named Wayne Rash, Sandra James and Dr. McBurney to the panel. The motion received a second and was approved by voice vote.
Other routine business: the board also approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from the Dec. 4 meeting earlier in the session by voice votes.
Next steps: the ad hoc committee will meet (chair indicated likely in March) to begin budget work for the 2026–27 fiscal year; staff will circulate meeting details to committee members.
