District acknowledges FEMA/Cal OES funds to support moving Sewer Authority Midcoast electrical building

Montero staff reported Feb. 5 that the district is acting as a conduit to receive FEMA and Cal OES funds on behalf of Sewer Authority Midcoast (SAM). Finance staff said approximately $78,000 in additional funds was received this month and that the district has processed about $1,588,000 in FEMA/Cal OES funds to date for SAM. The funds are intended to support design work and relocation of SAM’s electrical building to higher ground after storm and flood risk concerns.

Peter (finance) explained the process: the district receives and acknowledges the funds and then remits them, dollar for dollar, to SAM as required by the program. Catherine and other board members praised staff and engineers for pursuing grants and coordinating with FEMA. Peter said the $78,000 item is for design and that further construction funding will follow as FEMA approvals are completed.
