Board reviews operational items: cyber insurance renewal, RFP rebids and personnel previews

District staff asked the board to provide verbal approval to proceed with a cyber insurance renewal ahead of the policy expiration on Feb. 9 because the incumbent carrier had sought a large premium increase. Susan (district administrator) said a broker found a different carrier at a more reasonable price and staff requested verbal authorization to bind the new policy before the Tuesday vote.

The board provided verbal concurrence that staff should proceed with the renewal while the formal approval will come at the scheduled voting meeting.

Administrators previewed personnel items slated for the consent agenda at the next meeting, including three resignations, several cafeteria worker hires, a school nurse resignation, a full‑time head custodian hire and volunteer advisers for clubs. Staff also said they would advertise for summer building, grounds and IT workers.

On procurement, staff recommended reissuing two RFPs (professional substitute services and cafeteria supplemental staffing) because several proposals arrived late and could not be opened; the superintendent recommended rebidding to ensure due diligence and asked for time to check references. Board members asked staff to return a cost comparison showing the district's current substitute cost and the potential cost of contracting services.

Separately, administrators previewed Jeff Tech's request to temporarily retain local surplus to manage cash‑flow related to Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) reimbursements; the request will appear in Jeff Tech's budget presentation.
