County administrator asks delegation to act on deferred commissioner appointment; Hagerstown Airport parking fee confirmed at $5 a day

Michelle Gordon, county administrator for Washington County, used the public-comment period to ask the delegation to check the status of Randy Leatherman's appointment as commissioner, which she said must take place during the current session after being deferred last year.

"The commissioners would like me to ask that you check on the status of the appointment of Randy Leatherman as a commissioner," Gordon said, asking the delegation to confirm whether the appointment would be scheduled this session.

Later in public comment, a speaker who identified themselves as representing the Wicomico County executive raised a proposal to coordinate Hagerstown and Salisbury airports as a coalition to promote services. Michelle Gordon confirmed Hagerstown Airport had implemented a $5-per-day parking fee and said a separate passenger fee is added to each ticket; she said she would provide the exact amount of the passenger fee later.

Delegation members suggested inviting the airport director to a future meeting for an update on airport operations and fees. The chair agreed to follow up on the appointment status and other requests raised during public comment.
