Beer board defers Cabanas Nightclub permit after incomplete background paperwork

The Chattanooga Beer Board on an unrecorded date deferred action on Cabanas Nightclub’s beer-permit application after members said the applicant had not submitted full background documentation and fire-marshal clearance.

The board noted a legal hold on the Cabanas file and asked the applicant to submit the complete FBI background packet. Jesus Sosa, speaking for the applicant, said he had provided some materials and that remaining fire-marshal approvals were pending; he told the board, “I have it in the email right now. I can't just send it right now.”

Board members said previous citations and neighborhood complaints at nearby addresses required a careful review. Officer Mosher confirmed other citations had been written by Sergeant Cal. After discussion, a board member moved to defer consideration of Cabanas (Bureau 1378) to the next meeting to allow regulatory staff time to review the complete background and related materials; the motion carried on a roll call vote.

The board instructed the applicant to submit the full background check documentation and to obtain required fire-marshal signoff before reconsideration. No final permit decision was made at the meeting.
