Beer board affirms 30-day suspension and $1,000 fine for The Dream; sets suspension on operating days

The Chattanooga Beer Board affirmed a hearing officer recommendation to suspend the beer permit of a business identified in the hearing as The Dream for 30 operating days and to impose a $1,000 fine.

The board voted to affirm hearing officer Janica Everhart’s recommendation and discussed whether suspensions should be counted as operating days. Members noted past practice of counting days the business is open to ensure the penalty has effect. A board member moved, “I make a motion that we implement the 30 days beginning on February 19,” and the board adopted a schedule that, as read into the record, runs the suspension on operating days beginning Feb. 19 and ending April 11.

Officer Mosher said Sergeant Kalman had notified the Tennessee ABC (TABC) about the matter, but board members reported they had not received information about any TABC enforcement action. The board also confirmed the $1,000 fine must be paid within seven days of notice. Staff agreed to follow up with ABC/TABC and report any additional action at the next meeting.

The board did not receive any immediate TABC action during the meeting and directed staff to confirm whether The Dream is current with any state-required responsible-vendor training certificates.
