Middlesex County commissioners presented a resolution naming Pamela Ng as the county’s Teacher of the Year at the meeting, citing her classroom leadership, student growth and community work.
A presenter said the award recognizes “excellence in teaching, dedication to student growth, and leadership in her school and surrounding communities,” and noted Ng was selected as a finalist for New Jersey State Teacher of the Year. The presenter also identified Ng as a third-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Edison.
Ng described the diversity of her classroom and the value of culturally responsive teaching. “In my class, 16 out of my 22 students speak a second language at home,” she said, adding that students bring traditions such as Lunar New Year and Bollywood dance into class and that those experiences help build empathy, curiosity and collaboration.
Ng invited commissioners to visit her classroom to see students’ learning firsthand and thanked the board, school leadership, colleagues and families for the recognition.
The presentation concluded with applause and brief commissioner remarks thanking county staff and the teacher for their service.
