Charter Review Committee approves proposed preamble change for Leon County charter

Staff presented proposed language to revise the preamble of the Leon County charter to reflect community values. The committee discussed briefly and then voted unanimously to recommend the draft language to the Board of County Commissioners. The staff advised that a simple majority from this committee is sufficient to recommend a charter amendment for the board’s consideration; if the board advances it, the change would go to public hearing later in the process.

The motion passed by roll-call vote and the committee moved on to the day’s final agenda item.
