Hawthorne welcomes fourth cannabis dispensary, city and operator stress safety and community giving

Hawthorne welcomed its fourth cannabis dispensary this week, city reporters said, with officials and the store's staff framing the opening around safety, transparency and community investment.

Reporter Ashley Romero said city leaders highlighted cooperation between the dispensary and municipal staff as key to the approval. A city representative said Hawthorne uses cameras linked to the police department and presented that linkage as part of the community's oversight arrangements.

Haven's team described an approach designed to make the storefront feel familiar rather than clinical and said staff will operate a community-ambassador program to coordinate donations and identify local needs for homeless services, school support and other nonprofits. "It's much more inviting...it's well lit," a Haven representative said of the interior design.

The dispensary opening was presented to residents as an economic opportunity; a City official noted additional sales-tax revenue and general-fund support as reasons for permitting cannabis retailers while stressing operators must "give back to the community" and support schools and local nonprofits. The store's representatives said donations are intended to be "genuine from the heart." Another city statement said, "To date, we haven't had any issues with our cannabis operators."
