A village official said the Village of Dolton will pursue Cook County grant opportunities, including Invest in Cook and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs, and advised trustees about an upcoming webinar covering both funding streams.
The official said, "There will be a call for projects from Cook County for Invest in Cook and also for CDBG," and noted that the Cook County Blackgrass fund carries a maximum award of $500,000 while Invest in Cook has no stated upper limit. The webinar is scheduled for Wednesday from 12:30 to 3:30.
The official outlined materials typically required for a complete application: a certification resolution, an online fair-housing survey and the village’s current audit. They said the grant submittal deadline is in March, giving village staff roughly two months to assemble the packet.
The official added they will coordinate with department heads, public works and a staff member referenced in the record as "Ed Steve" to develop project proposals and complete the online application.
Trustees were told staff will attend the webinar and report back with details and next steps. A resident asked whether Invest in Cook funds could be used for transit improvements; the official confirmed the program can support transit and service enhancements.
The next procedural steps are webinar participation this week, intra-staff project development, and preparing a certification resolution and required documentation ahead of the March submission window.
