County road staff gave updates on local bridge work and opened bids for a county road project.
Nate reported that Bridge 58 (on 5 North east of 4 West) and Bridge 150 (1050 South east of Geneva) reopened to traffic after recent repairs. He said crews used flowable fill to fill groundhog voids under approaches, describing roughly 6–8 cubic yards used in one repair and about 8 yards pumped beneath another approach. Nate said the approach slab was poured after core-drilling and flowable fill work and described the method as successful.
On the funding and inspection side, Nate said the Ndot inspection agreement is in standard DOT form and needs signatures to proceed; he said Ndot has moved some grant inspection money into construction and described the inspection contract as "not to exceed $155,000," asking the board to authorize signatures so staff can submit the agreement to Ndot.
Nate also proposed issuing a request for quotes to power-wash and clean roughly 20 bridge decks in 2025 as a preventative-maintenance measure before sealing. He discussed trade-offs between contracting the cleaning versus buying equipment and staffing in-house and said sealant performance improves if debris and salts are removed prior to sealing.
Bids were opened for the 700 South Drive project. On the record bids were Cobalt Civil LLC — $1,442,260.41; Morphe Construction Inc. — $1,765,000; Brooks Construction — $1,481,110; Fleming Excavating — $1,397,476.04. Staff recommended preparing a bid tab to verify addenda and pricing and return with a recommendation at the next meeting.
The board did not take a final award action during this meeting; staff will present a verified bid tab and recommendation at a subsequent session.
