Ted reported to the board that tax-collection activity has improved since the last reporting period, saying collections were at 91.56% and had risen to 95.67% as of that morning. He told commissioners that courtesy letters to delinquent taxpayers will be mailed after the first of the year and expressed an expectation that collections would exceed 97% after those mailings.
Ted said the tax office experienced some computer and generator-related issues on the last tax-due date but that staff and on-call IT personnel resolved the problems. He also said he was reviewing options for maturing CDs and was collecting bank bids for reinvestment and would report back as appropriate.
The board thanked Ted and county staff for handling a busy collection period and for their responsiveness during the system incident.
