The House Calendar & Rules Committee convened at 8:30 a.m., confirmed a quorum and set several bills for Monday’s calendars. Vice Chair Kent McCallman moved to take up the consent calendar on Monday, and the motion passed by voice vote.
The committee placed House Bill 0047 on Monday’s consent calendar at 2:00 p.m. Representative Hale was noted present for that item. House Bill 0169 and House Joint Resolution 0180 were approved for Monday’s regular calendar after motions, seconds and questions were called. Chairman Crawford agreed to carry House Bill 0458 on behalf of Representative Rudd; the committee approved placing that bill on Monday’s regular calendar. House Bill 0796 was likewise placed on Monday’s regular calendar with Representative Vaughn present.
The meeting’s procedural actions were completed with voice approvals for each placement; no roll-call tallies or recorded dissent were provided in the transcript. Representative Faison was recorded as excused.
The session ended on a light note after Leader Lambeth corrected a reference to Representative Vaughn and quipped about his ‘‘District of Champions.’’ Leader Lambeth said he "just wanted to make sure that the chairman knew that." Chair Lady Moody then moved to adjourn and the committee recessed.
The committee will reconvene on the schedule established by House leadership; the transcript records calendar placement only and does not record committee debate on the substantive contents of the named bills.
