Lawrence Licensing Board approves multiple one-day alcohol permits, new restaurant license and pool‑table permit

The Lawrence Licensing Board approved a string of routine licensing items at its Feb. 4 meeting, including several one‑day alcohol permits, a new restaurant liquor license at 168 Broadway and a pool‑table permit.

The board approved a series of dates for Pig & Pork Inc.’s all‑day alcohol events — Feb. 27, March 27, April 18 and May 30 — after the applicant said the events would include live music and comedy for “about 100 people” with three security staff. Lieutenant Olivieri told the board that officers would review the security plan the week before events and determine whether a police detail is required.

The board also approved a one‑day all‑alcohol permit for Saint Anthony’s (a repeat applicant) after members said they had approved similar events in the past and had no questions; a motion to approve carried on voice votes. Dan Tarlo, representing the applicant for a new liquor license at 168 Broadway (d/b/a Via Columbia Grill), said the prior license had lapsed; commissioners instructed the applicant to attend a rules-and-regulations session on the eleventh to complete licensing steps. The motion to grant the new license passed.

Passion Steak Tacos & Grill was granted permission to add a pool table. Board members noted the new fee and told the applicant to pay the required amount at the clerk’s office. Lion Power Sonido received a one‑day wine and malt permit for a hall on Jackson Street, and Paisano Pizza (applicant Yasmin Austin) was approved for a Common Victualler (Common B) license for a Marimax Street location.

The Portuguese American Club returned to confirm corrected advertising and application materials; no vote was required because the board said the club had already been approved pending submission of corrected paperwork. Commissioner Laird said the police department would monitor the venue and warned that gambling machines must be removed before licensing continues.

The meeting concluded with routine procedural matters; the board set the next meeting for March 11 and adjourned.
