James Baden presented the stormwater and building-inspections update and announced outreach plans, including a tree giveaway scheduled for March 20.
Baden said the office completed 47 final inspections and 35 initial inspections in January, performed 14 compliance site visits, responded to three complaints and completed 12 plan reviews. He said the office will host an expo in February for community outreach and that a tree giveaway on March 20 will be organized from the office; staff will prepare tree packages for pickup.
Board members asked clarifying questions about tree species and durability. Baden described bald cypress as a hardwood that sheds foliage in winter, said the white pine is likely the fastest-growing option on the list, and named river birch and bur oak as slower-growing alternatives. He offered planting tips and monitoring advice.
On logistics Baden provided contact details: "You can call our office, talk to Lisa Baldwin. Our number is 615, 443-2120," and said pre-registration will allow residents to select trees; otherwise distribution on event day will be first-come, first-served.
No policy vote accompanied the announcement; staff said they will circulate a flyer with the tree list and pick-up details.
