The Page County School Board on Jan. 22 approved several action items brought forward by staff.
Claims for payment: Finance staff presented a claim certification showing operating-fund expenditures of $365,989.98 and food-service fund expenditures of $34,533.34, for a total of $400,523.32. A board member moved to approve the claims and the motion was seconded and carried.
Purchase order for HVAC repair: The board considered a purchase order exceeding $10,000 for Hobbs & Associates for replacement of compressors at Luray Middle School, priced at $11,777.28. Staff said backup systems were running and the repair was urgent given cold-weather risk; the board moved, seconded and approved the PO.
Resolution 202605 — VDOE grant: Miss Miller presented Resolution 202605 asking the Page County Board of Supervisors to adjust the FY25–26 school budget to recognize and appropriate a $6,000 Virginia Department of Education early childhood provisionally licensed teacher incentive grant. The resolution was moved, seconded and approved.
Policy and curriculum actions: Miss Clark returned approximately 11 previously informational VSBA policy updates for action; the board approved the updates (one member asked to clarify an abstention). Miss Hamlin presented the revised Secondary Program of Studies (previously informational) including course deletions and edits; the board approved the program as presented.
