The Reno City Planning Commission on Feb. 4 recommended appointments to two vacancies on the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission.
The body first recommended Christina Delviar for the remainder of Commissioner Carrie Romyer’s term (ending Sept. 30, 2026). The recommendation passed unanimously after a motion and second. A later attempt to reconsider that unanimous recommendation failed on a roll-call vote.
Commissioners then considered the full three-year seat that will commence when City Council acts. After multiple nominations and votes, the commission recommended Commissioner Tina Gompiantini for the full three-year term by a 4–3 roll-call vote. A prior nomination of Commissioner Manny Becerra for the full-term seat failed on a 4–3 roll-call vote.
During deliberations commissioners debated process and precedent for making recommendations to the City Council, with several members saying longer tenure or prior service should inform regional appointments and others stressing the council’s authority to act on recommendations. Christina Delviar said she would welcome either the partial term or the three-year term and that a longer appointment would help her "do a better job both here and regionally."
