Pingree Grove trustees voted to adopt an ordinance amending village code to prohibit parking along all of Reinking Road within the village boundaries.
Staff (Andy) said the change stems from complaints—particularly truck parking and idling near an unincorporated construction site—and recommended a full ban on Reinking rather than drafting a separate idling ordinance. The village attorney said the board could revise the rule later if courts or prosecutors require an idling-specific violation; the police chief said officers support using existing code and have authority to ticket vehicles that impede traffic.
Trustees asked where the ban would begin; staff confirmed it would cover Reinking Road within the village limits, effectively starting at Route 20. The attorney and police chief noted the approach is to try the parking ban first and revisit with more specific idling language if enforcement or legal challenges suggest the need.
The ordinance was approved by roll-call vote. Staff will enforce the ban through existing parking and traffic-hazard ordinances and will return to the board if additional legislative changes are needed to address idling-specific enforcement.
