Titusville planning commission holds officer elections; chair and vice chair confirmed, Member Faison chosen secretary

The Titusville Planning and Zoning Commission conducted elections for officers at the Feb. 4 meeting following advice from the city attorney that the bylaws require holding elections on the specified date.

Nominations for chairman were opened and the incumbent was nominated and confirmed by voice vote. The commission then opened nominations for vice chairman; a nomination for Charles (nominated by Member Chapman) was seconded and approved by voice vote. The secretary position was contested: after nominations and a decision to close nominations, the commission held a roll-call vote and selected Member Faison as secretary.

The city attorney noted that, if a member later is not reappointed by city council, a new election would be required at that time. Commissioners discussed timing (some members noted historical delays in city reappointments) but proceeded with elections as advised by the attorney.
