Madison City parks board approves minutes, accepts claims, renews soccer lease and raises campground-host pay

Madison City Parks Department members approved a series of routine items and two contracts at their meeting. The board voted to approve last month’s minutes and to accept previously reviewed claims. The chair moved both measures and each was approved by voice vote.

The board also approved renewal of the lease for the soccer fields at Rucker with the group referred to in the meeting record as the "Jefferson County Soccer Association." A member said, "Everything is exactly the same as last year," and the board approved the same contract as the prior year after a brief discussion about whether a representative should attend future negotiations.

On the campground-host contract, staff said the seasonal payment was increased from $11,250 to $12,000 for the season. Members praised the hosts: "They did a phenomenal job," one member said. The board moved, seconded and approved the contract by voice vote.

The meeting ended with the chair setting the next meeting for Wednesday, March 4 at 4:00 p.m. and a motion to adjourn passed by voice vote.
