Auditorium renovation rebid planned after partial trade responses; seating purchase with Erwin Seating Company proposed

District staff told the board the summer 2026 auditorium renovation drew strong overall contractor interest (22 total bids) but did not yield the expected minimum of two bids for all trades. Staff reported only one electrical bid, a partial bid for acoustical panels and no bids for plaster, and said the district will rebid the electrical, acoustical panel and plaster portions with a rebid opening scheduled for Feb. 20.

Stan said the administration aims to present a complete renovation package to the board at the March 3 Committee of the Whole meeting so lead times for stage curtains and seating can be met. "The total cost of the, the seating is gonna be $273,106 that includes installation," Stan said, adding seating procurement will use the Omnia Purchasing Cooperative with Erwin Seating Company.

Board members questioned per-seat installation costs (approximately $160) and differences in chair styles between balcony and main floor; staff responded that pricing came from architects and construction managers and reflected cooperative purchasing rates and lead times.

Administration characterized preliminary results as consistent with the established project budget but said final costs will be confirmed once the remaining trades are rebid and compiled into a full package for board approval.
