City of Aurora plan to stage dredged material near Gates Elementary draws questions from district staff

District staff updated the Buildings & Grounds Committee on preliminary plans from the City of Aurora to store dredged material in large containment "socks" near Macedon Lake, an area of practice fields behind Gates Elementary.

Speaker 2 presented the slide materials and described an area the city proposed using to "store some of this, dredged material in those large socks." Staff said the city originally mentioned spreading and leveling material on the practice field but later told district staff that it would not do so. "They say they are not going to do that," Speaker 2 said, describing the city's clarification that the work would take place around the outside of the practice area rather than on fields used for play.
