Planning Commission continues Perris Valley Commerce Center land‑use reversion at property owner request

The commission continued, off calendar, a proposed Specific Plan Amendment (25‑00003) that would change the land‑use designation of a roughly 2.9‑acre parcel in the Perris Valley Commerce Center from a future Perris Valley storm drain to light industrial.

Staff said the site is privately owned by B and B Gardner LP and cited the Perris Valley Commerce Center Specific Plan and earlier Riverside County drainage guidance that reserved land for possible regional drainage facilities. Staff reported receipt of a same‑day letter from property owners Barbara and Brian Gardner expressing concerns about the proposed reversion and requested a continuance so staff can address those concerns and perform additional outreach or analysis as necessary.

Commissioner Gerry Hammond moved to continue the item off calendar; the motion passed 5–0.

Next steps: Staff will confer with the property owners, assess the concerns raised in the letter and return the item to a future agenda once the record and stakeholder concerns are addressed.
