County staff from public works asked the council for a work session to update the 2028–2033 parks and nature system plan and the natural areas acquisition plan, describing the item as informational and intended to gather council feedback on outreach and engagement. "This plan guides the acquisition and land development management for our park system," staff said while requesting time for historical context and the outreach plan.
Staff also proposed a follow‑up work session requested by the council last year on the county noxious weed control program to review state implementation requirements, the county noxious weed control board's role, education and enforcement, and services on county lands; staff indicated March as a desired date but noted it was not time sensitive.
A councilor asked for a brief work session to hear from the Fort Vancouver Regional Library director and board chair to clarify council appointment roles and ways the council can be supportive. Staff said they would place that request on the work session calendar with additional council support.
During policy updates, staff said the sheriff is discussing state funding with members of the county delegation for a new firing range and asked whether the council was supportive of staff outreach or a letter; the council offered a general thumbs‑up.
No binding decisions or funding approvals were made at this meeting; staff will schedule the requested work sessions and return with materials.
