Don Moody, speaking for the USIMS finance domain, said the finance API has been released to third‑party vendors and one vendor has confirmed they can send information to USIMS, though some formatting issues remain.
"We have actually released the UCIMS finance API to third party vendors...and just last week, we were able to confirm that one of the vendors can send information to UCIMS," Don said, noting continued work on submission formats with additional vendors including Skyward.
Why it matters: finance data underpins budgeting and state reporting. Don said the team has added search and mapping tools to help LEAs match local chart‑of‑account codes to the statewide standard and is implementing about 20 user stories to support complex indirect‑cost calculations for the fiscal year.
Don outlined a pilot/rollout approach: a pilot with select LEAs this year, parallel submissions next year (LEAs submit to both their current system and USIMS), and then a staged transition if pilots succeed. He described the current status as "green" for FY24 work, while emphasizing multi‑year work remains for full adoption.
Staff encouraged finance users to join the Wednesday focus working group and noted attention to user interface concerns for finance staff (wide‑screen layouts for rule searches rather than mobile views). The team plans to continue vendor outreach, refine API formatting, and demonstrate features in upcoming focus meetings.
