Committee approves emergency vacate to allow Riverside property closing

The Rules Committee approved an emergency request and an amendment adding emergency language for agenda item 20260073 to permit a property plat recording and closing in Riverside.

Property owner Vince Casolano explained the timing pressure: "we were in the middle of having the plat reset for this and this vacate came up and the timeline for the closing and the plat recording was pendant on this," and asked the committee to move the item as an emergency. Council members asked questions; staff confirmed consultation with city and that no issues were identified. The committee voted to declare an emergency, approved an amendment to add emergency language to the bill and then approved the bill as an emergency by recorded tally of 6 yeas, 0 nays.

The chair said the emergency was necessary to allow the closing and plat recording to proceed on schedule; staff will record the amendment language and process the vacate as approved.
