Mendocino LAFCO unanimously appoints Bruce Alfano as alternate public member and administers oath

The Mendocino County Local Agency Formation Commission on Tuesday voted unanimously to appoint Bruce Alfano as the commission’s alternate public member for the remainder of the 2024–2027 term. Commissioner Roden moved the appointment and Commissioner Gonzales seconded the motion; a roll-call vote recorded support from all commissioners present.

Alfano introduced himself to the commission and described prior LAFCO service in the 1990s, saying he had been a Mendocino County resident for 54 years and that he had previously served as chair of the commission. His remarks drew questions from commissioners about the kinds of matters he dealt with historically, including water-rights issues and municipal-service concerns.

After the appointment vote, Alfano took and read the oath of office in the meeting: "I, Bruce Alfano, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California ... and that I will faithfully discharge the duties which I am about to assume." He then signed the oath certificate in the record. The commission noted the meeting is streamed live and the oath will be available in the recording.

The appointment fills the alternate public seat identified on the meeting agenda and allows Alfano to participate in future LAFCO business as the alternate public representative. The commission moved on to other agenda business after administering the oath.
