Planning commission recommends approval for temporary 120-foot telecom tower at 1817 11th Street North

The Moorhead Planning Commission voted Feb. 1 to recommend approval of a conditional use permit for a temporary, 120-foot ballast-mounted telecommunications tower at 1817 11th Street North.

Staff presented the request from Atera Consulting Group on behalf of New Singular Wireless PCS LLC, noting the tower would be installed for one year to allow AT&T to maintain service while permitting and constructing a permanent tower at the site. Staff also noted one public comment from A. Morris asking design questions but reporting no design objections. The request had been continued from the Jan. 5 meeting pending a proof-of-need study required by city code; staff reported that study results are now available in the packet.

Commissioners closed the public hearing and moved to recommend approval to the city council contingent on the conditions listed in the staff packet. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
