The Montezuma County Board of County Commissioners voted on Feb. 3 to continue a public hearing on the Royce Subdivision to Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. after planning staff said the applicant had not completed required public notifications.
County Clerk Kim Purcell read the published notice for the Royce Subdivision application, which lists properties at 16333 and 16535 Road 30 in Dolores, Colorado and describes them as about 5.03 acres and 19.56 acres, more or less. Planning staff asked the board to delay the hearing because the applicant had failed to post required public notices in advance of the meeting.
“We would request a motion to continue this to February 10 at 9AM,” planning staff member Don told the board. Staff later confirmed that packets have been mailed and that a sign has been posted on the property to notify neighbors.
Commissioners moved and seconded the continuance; the motion carried by voice vote. The board scheduled the next hearing for Feb. 10, 2026 at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room at the Montezuma County Administrative Offices in Cortez.
No substantive evidence on the proposed subdivision itself was taken at the Feb. 3 meeting; the continuance preserves opportunity for public input once notice requirements are met. The planning office listed contact information for questions and the clerk published the official notice in January 2026.
