Public Works staff presented final layout and design details for a prefabricated concrete restroom building planned for Dale Creek and asked the board for design feedback before finalizing bid-based selections.
Jake, a village staff member, described the project as “a prefabricated concrete restroom building” with new sidewalks to improve connections. The drawing in the packet shows two restroom rooms: the women’s room with two toilets and the men’s room with one stall and a urinal, plus a utility room for staff access. Staff said the architectural rendering in the packet is illustrative and that final materials, exterior colors and finishes will be selected through manufacturer submittals after contract award.
Trustees discussed whether to keep separate men’s and women’s rooms or shift to single‑occupancy/unisex stalls to maximize capacity and accessibility. One trustee urged adding security cameras, arguing they would “maybe deter anything that would happen.” Staff said internet service already exists at the nearby gazebo and confirmed the project budget can support exterior cameras and timed door locks similar to the community center restrooms; staff also said the building will be winterized for three-season use and that changing stations could be provided.
No formal vote was required at the meeting; staff requested feedback and will finalize the restroom specification in the contracting and submittal process.
