Speaker 1, chairing the Stow Arts Commission meeting, said the commission received 14 submissions for the upcoming Women in Arts exhibit and has confirmed most display locations. "I am happy to report that since then, we have had 14 artists submit their artwork for the woman in arts exhibit," Speaker 1 said.
The commission is arranging logistics with participating businesses and has prepared liability waivers for each site. Speaker 1 asked commissioners to volunteer to deliver and obtain signatures for the waivers, noting that some businesses have participated in prior years and may simply ask organizers to return later to pick up the signed forms. The installation timeline was clarified: speakers agreed that artwork should be displayed by late February, with an installation target of Feb. 27 and a Chamber of Commerce business awards event on March 4 where roughly 10–12 artists’ works would be shown.
Commissioners compared this year’s submissions with last year’s, when Speaker 1 said there were “just over 20 submissions.” The commission discussed matching artists to businesses based on venue environment (for example, avoiding locations with heavy smoking or limited accessibility) and confirmed they can place multiple works from the same artist across more accessible public venues.
Speaker 5 asked whether any businesses want art but lack artists; Speaker 1 responded the commission has more businesses than artists in some locations and will place multi-piece artists where needed. The commission reminded volunteers to complete the waiver date fields (the group agreed on a February installation range) and said signed electronic copies may be emailed to Speaker 4 if a business prefers email over in-person pickup.
Next steps: volunteers will take lists of businesses and collect signed waivers; the commission will finalize display locations and coordinate delivery/installation logistics ahead of the Feb. 27 installation target. The commission did not record a formal vote on these logistics; the discussion produced no formal motion beyond the earlier approval of the meeting minutes.
