Commissioners used the Feb. 3 Denton County Commissioners Court meeting to thank county staff and first responders for their work during the recent winter storm, to highlight local recognitions and upcoming community events, and to ask residents to make blood-donation appointments.
The presiding judge publicly thanked county emergency management, road-and-bridge crews, dispatchers, facilities and IT staff for continuing operations during the winter storm and said the county had received "many compliments." Commissioners Falconer and Mitchell offered congratulatory notes: Falconer highlighted Little Elm ISD’s community-partner award and named local citizen award winners; Mitchell recognized regional arts and library events and praised a youth who helped a senior.
The judge urged residents to schedule donations with Carter Blood Care and noted American Red Cross and local drives scheduled in late February to replenish supplies disrupted by the storm.
Several commissioners also recognized Macy Wingard of Brashear High School (recorded in the transcript as "Bridal High School senior Macy Wingard") as the Gatorade Texas Girls Cross Country Player of the Year.
