The Lake Forest City Council unanimously approved seven omnibus items on April 15 that covered minutes, personnel policy changes, contracts, surplus property sale and capital purchases.
Notable approvals included authorization for the city manager to execute a two-year professional services agreement for concession services at Deerpath Community Park with Kemper Sports Management; authorization to dispose of a 2003 Freightliner maintenance van to the highest bidder; approval to purchase a cemetery section utility truck (chassis $54,886 and body $28,299, total $83,185); award of the low bid for the 2024 patching and resurfacing project to Schrader Asphalt Services Inc. with authorization for the city manager to execute an agreement not to exceed $1,085,000; and authorization to contract Guelph Hamilton Associates Company Inc. for storm sewer design engineering for $40,400 plus a 5% contingency for a total of $42,420.
Public Works Committee chair noted the resurfacing contract covers two miles of streets, funded primarily from the Motor Fuel Tax fund ($1,000,000) and a CIP allocation ($85,000). The committee compared prior-year quantities and costs and said remaining project funds would return to the MFT budget if unused.
Council approved the omnibus block by roll call, 8-0.
